PUPPIES AT 5 WEEKS OF AGE...SPENDING TIME IN THE OUTSIDE WORLD
Pups have already been getting some clipping, nails trimmed regularly, exposure to grooming table and the sound of dryers all in readiness for being groomed throughout their lives. They have been spending some of the daytime outside in a section of undercover grooming room that is opening out onto a concrete fenced run helping them to learn to move away from their bed to toilet themselves and giving them experience of sounds and sight that come with being outdoors. They have two crates in their outdoor area with doors currently removed so that they can seek solace and come and go from the crate as they please. Feeding of puppies will soon take place in a crate for some meals to further encourage their use of them. Positive crate training can help prepare puppies for travel, especially if you plan on your puppy travelling in a crate in the car or by plane. When puppy finally does visit the vets to be desexed they will not be stressed if they have spent time crated. Puppies are spending some of their afternoon time out on the grass under the palm trees becoming accustomed to the feeling of multiple surfaces under their feet. Puppies are being walked back from that area to their outdoor room with the positive encouragement of meal time dishes clanking together, calling them back. It will be time to start practising stepping up and down from a table flat on the groom room floor, to prepare them for steps.
